THE Magic Millions may be done and dusted but as they say, ‘there’s always another race’ – and this Saturday, punters will be treated to three quality metro meetings at Doomben, Flemington and Randwick.
Below are our experts’ five best bets from the three meetings! You can get set on either fixed odds or GOAT SP – Australia’s best tote product – at TopBetta.
Doomben R2#4 HUNTER JACK @ $2.70 *BEST BET*
If Tim Martin opts to send Hunter Jack to Brisbane instead of Randwick (R4), he looks awfully hard to beat. His Sydney form is superior to anything else in this race, should have no trouble crossing to stalk the speed and races with just 51kgs after the claim. Looks the goods.
Flemington R1#11 MUTARAKEM @ $10.00/$2.90 each-way
This bloke loves a fight! Mutarakem rewarded the Waller stable’s patience with consecutive victories at Sandown and steps up in grade in pursuit of an 1800m hat-trick. He’ll race in the first four once again and won’t be far from the finish.
Flemington R4#4 BONUS D’ORO @ $7.00
Plenty of horses in this race come through the same Caulfield lead up from a fortnight ago and the unluckiest looked to be Bonus D’Oro, who endured a chequered passage in the straight before finishing just 0.9L off the winner. Looks value here.
Randwick R3#1 KOPI LUWAK @ $4.60
It took more than two years for Kopi Luwak to get to the races for his second career start, but he couldn’t have been more impressive in breaking his maiden. He steps straight up to 1400m on the bigger track here – look for him storming home over the top bin a typically truly-run Highway Handicap.
Randwick R7#6 MALAISE @ $3.40
Malaise is dual-nominated at both Flemington (R9) and Randwick and we’d be keen to back him in either event. But we particularly like his chances at Randwick, where he draws to get a cosy run to repeat his track and distance success from a fortnight ago.
