A HUGE weekend of racing sees Friday’s Australia Day meetings backed up with a number of juicy cards on Saturday with the Autumn Carnival fast approaching.
Our traders have picked out their five best bets from Caulfield, Rosehill and the Sunshine Coast. You can get set on either fixed odds or GOAT SP – Australia’s best tote product – at TopBetta.
Caulfield R1#7 THE CHAIRMAN
There’s plenty to like about The Chairman stepping up to 2000m third up on his home track on Saturday. He was very strong to the line last time out and will have the option of rolling forward to sit in the first four from the wide gate, something which looks likely to be important on a fairly firm track.
Caulfield R3#10 PURE ELATION
There’s plenty to like about this filly on debut in the Blue Diamond Preview. She’s shown good speed under minimal urging at both ends in both her most recent outings – a Warwick Farm trial and Werribee jump out – and with “the Snowden polish” looks a likely first up winner
Rosehill R3#5 EUSEBIO
Eusebio was a Listed winner when third up last preparation and presents at the races in similarly attractive circumstances here. The speed looks genuine in this one which should allow him to settle midfield and hit the line strongly. Ignore his only previous start beyond 1400m on Heavy ground last Autumn where they came in like Brown’s cows.
Rosehill R7#3 ENDLESS DRAMA
Chris Waller sends his lightly-raced former Irish galloper to the races for the first time in nearly 10 months on Saturday on the back of three good trials. His third behind Winx and Hartnell when first up last prep makes for interesting reading! From a kind draw he receives very favourable circumstances here.
Sunshine Coast R2#5 FRANCISCA
Produced an enormous effort second up at Doomben and charging home from the back on a day when the rail position was half way to the grandstand. The jump to 1600m looks perfect here and she’ll be charging home down the crown of the long Sunny Coast straight.
