MOONEE VALLEY – SATURDAY 28TH OCTOBER
TRACK: Good 4, Rail True
The rail is in the true position for both Friday night and Saturday, meaning the inside is likely to be less favoured late in the day. All-in-all though, the track has been prepared to handle the 24 hour glut of racing and we expect decent conditions.
Hard race to line up form wise with a 8/11 having their first start. SETSUNA the best performed of the raced, while JAWAAL produced an impressive jump out.
Betting tip: Watch and learn.
Favourite BADAJOZ is four weeks off dropping to 955m for the first time. The inside gate is a slight worry. Track bias depending, ROCK’N’GOLD could be the one – he was excellent here behind Super Too two back and won well against some of these last start.
Betting tip: Something small ROCK’N’GOLD @ GOAT Top
Twice beaten home by the smart Viridine this prep, SINGLE BULLET looks ready to win third up. He gets the right run off the fence just behind what looks an above average tempo. TREKKING is eight weeks off into this and has strong form through Menari.
Betting tip: SINGLE BULLET looks good @ $5.00 fixed
DEMERARA is unbeaten and the Avdulla/Cummings combination is proving particularly profitable. The $2.30 is definitely short enough though and there may be some value about the stable’s other runner, JORDA, off the back of two Group 3 placings. Hard to suggest a confident bet though.
Betting tip: Multiples around the Godolphin pair DEMERARA and JORDA if you must.
OREGON’S DAY has been wide without cover at each of her last two but was a good closing fifth last time out regardless. The track may be playing into the hands of swoopers by this stage and she looks a good bet to round them up.
Betting tip: OREGON’S DAY @ $3.80 fixed
BIG DUKE is the best of the day. He’ll be guaranteed a soft run on the fence from the inside gate and beat home most of these in the St Leger last time out. If taking evens isn’t your fancy, a quinella/exacta with CISMONTAINE who will control the small field from the front may be the go.
Betting tip: BIG DUKE @ $2.15 fixed. BEST BET.
Backing up and down to a mile after a luckless run in the Ethereal, SPEEDWAY may provide some each-way value. She was held up at a vital stage and should have gone close to winning. MINTHA was 1200m>1600m last start and felt the pinch late, fitter here.
Betting tip: Nibble on SPEEDWAY each-way @ GOAT Top
The Crystal Mile is always a cracking betting race. Jungle Edge will ensure a genuine tempo with Religify and Burning Front also vying for the lead. SOUND PROPOSITION tucks in behind them and this looks ideal third up. He was very good in the Epsom and it is hard to see him not in the finish at his best trip.
Betting tip: SOUND PROPOSITION each-way @ $7.00/$2.40. BEST EACH-WAY.
The market is dominated by two horses. Aloisia is on her way to the Oaks, won well last start but being a run-on horse from barrier 1 is a worry. Happy to be with CLIFF’S EDGE to send us home on top, he’ll cross and lead from the outside gate and is in winning form.
Betting tip: CLIFF’S EDGE @ $2.45 fixed
