Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers get the 2018 MLB World Series underway on Wednesday when Game 1 is staged at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox beat New York Yankees 3-1 in the Divisional Series before defeating the Houston Astros 4-1 in the American League Championship Series.
The Dodgers booked their spot in the World Series after a 3-1 win over Atlanta Braves in the Divisional Series and a dramatic 4-3 victory over Milwaukee Brewers to win the National League Championship Series.
World Series Game 1
The Boston Red Sox are well rested as they enter the World Series having eliminated the Houston Astros in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series.
That early finish should give them a slight upper hand ahead of Game 1, for which they have home advantage at Fenway Park.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, on the other hand, enter the World Series having gone the distance in a seven-game series win in the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Boston have opted to Chris Sale to the mound. Sale enjoyed a 12-4 record in 2018 with an ERA of 2.11.
The Dodgers pitcher will be Clayton Kershaw, who had a 9-5 record with a 2.73 ERA this season.
Everything points to the Red Sox taking a 1-0 lead. Sale should outpitch Kershaw, they have home advantage in Boston and the bodies have been rested while the Dodgers finished off the Brewers.
Boston Red Sox (Moneyline): $1.68.
