NSW Bans Greyhound Racing
The New South Wales government yesterday announced that greyhound racing was to be banned in the state after their Special Commission of Inquiry into the Greyhound Industry report was made public. Premier Mike Baird made the announcement via Facebook: “In response to widespread illegal and unconscionable activity, including the slaughtering of tens of thousands of dogs, I can today announce that NSW is putting an end to greyhound racing.” The report can be found here: http://www.greyhoundracinginquiry.justice.nsw.gov.au/ Here is some of the fallout:

The ban will come into effect 1 July 2017.

The NFL pre-season starts on 8th August, with the regular season starting on 9th September.
Cavendish chasing Eddy
The Tour de France has started and after Stage 6, Britain’s Mark Cavendish not only owns the Yellow Jersey, he is now outright second when it comes to winning stages on le Tour.
Stage 6 of this year’s race was his 29th Stage win.
Cavendish is now only five stages away from joining the legendary Eddy Merckx for most Tour Stage wins.
